Job Possibilities in the Industry
The cosmetology industry offers a variety of positions with a wide income range. Those
positions include: make-up artist, salon manager, hair designer, educator, business owner,
sales executive, esthetician, spa owner, cruise line stylist and platform artist, to name a
few. Individuals in this field have the opportunity of flexible hours, of setting their own
schedule and of working part time. Jobs are always available and even the US
Government has said that the cosmetology industry is one of the most promising for job
security. The public always has a need for personal services. It is one of the few
industries where a licensed professional can take a leave of absence and still easily rejoin
the industry at a later time.
Our Curriculum
Independence College of Cosmetology utilizes the Pivot Point education system,
the most widely accepted cosmetology training system in the world. It has been translated into thirteen languages and is used in 1000 affiliated hair design schools in over 70 countries worldwide. Pivot Point uses a methodology that allows learning at the emotional, visual, analytical and manual level. Our delivery tools are interactive, providing students and educators with the most current in-depth knowledge of art and design theory as well as practical exercises and communication skills. Professionals in the industry appreciate the scope of Pivot Point training and are ready to hire graduates immediately because of it.
Independence College of Cosmetology follows a curriculum set forth by
CIDESCO for the Esthetics course. CIDESCO is an international organization for
Estheticians, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Independence College of
Cosmetology was the second of only three colleges in the United States to achieve
certification as a CIDESCO training facility. The Esthetics curriculum encompasses such
topics as skin analysis, facials, make-up, body treatments, full body massage, manicures,
pedicures and hair removal to name a few. The College has recently expanded the
curriculum to include microdermabrasion, which is fast becoming a popular service in the
beauty industry. Many of the graduates have obtained work with Dermatologists and
Plastic Surgeons as well as in day spas and salons.
